A BCM Motorsports Marketing Project

Hosted By Speedway Net

The History of Heartland Raceway Moama.

In May 2003 enquiries where made in the Moama area as to the availability of land on the main highway for the purpose of a motor sport complex.

A local business man in Moama made available approximately 50 acres of land on the Cobb highway 6 kilometers from Moama (opposite local refuse center) which met our criteria of which we purchased.

We then met with the Murray Shire and lodged an application for town planning approval for a motor sport complex. Council and department of sport and recreation granted approval and so “Heartland Raceway” began.

The name “Heartland Raceway” originated by the locality it presented in the Heart of the Murray region and one of the fastest moving tourist areas in Southern NSW/ Northern Victoria area.

In February 2004 earthmovers commenced on the project where over 90 thousand cubic meters of soil was excavated and reworked to form the racing track and spectator mounds.

Concrete retaining walls were pre fabricated off site, 166 panels approximately 450 tons of concrete, transported in and erected as a Concrete Perimeter Fence 1.4mts in height. Attached to this, a Safety NASCAR Fence 6.5mts in height and Secondary Fencing for Crowd Control.

From there the track lights and poles were installed, 78 lights producing 300 lux (Musco Lighting-this lighting is possibly the best in Australian Speedway and this complex has the best lighting available and equal to any in Australia.)

The impressive main entrance building is unique and blends in perfect with the surrounding environment, along with all other buildings on site.

The Surface of the Track is Clay .

Track size is approximately 500mts on the Pole Line.

640mts on Fence Line.18mts Wide Straights and Corners.  3° Banking on the Straight. 6°Banking on the Turns. 50mtr Radius Corners.

The Viewing Gallery for Spectators is around the complete perimeter on High Banking so everyone can see the total arena at all times and at a very close distance. It has a Spectator Capacity of 10,000 People plus.

The Venue is suitable for all Classes of Speedway Racing from the Top Level Including Sprintcars, Super Sedans as well as Club Events etc.

We opened the new complex on the 19th.January,2005,when the track hosted the World Series Sprintcar Series Round 14,which was a most successful night with extremely high speeds. A most exciting night for all Spectators and Competitors.

Since the Opening, we have held a variety of other classes including Modified Productions, Super Sedans and SRA Sprintcars.

The Track has produced some very fast lap times in its first season, with a lap record of 13.738 seconds, which is held by Grant Anderson from SRA Sprintcars on the 16th.April 2005.
We look forward to many more quick times this coming season.
----
In the off season, we have been busy planting grass to the infield and spectator areas, and another 700 trees on the outside area, also installing permanent toilet blocks in the pits and spectator area. We have also built a second canteen along the back straight.

Corporate Boxes will be installed by 2007 Season.
