We then met with the Murray Shire and lodged an application for town planning approval for a motor sport complex. Council and department of sport and recreation granted approval and so “Heartland Raceway” began.
The name “Heartland Raceway” originated by the locality it presented in the Heart of the Murray region and one of the fastest moving tourist areas in Southern NSW/ Northern Victoria area.
In February 2004 earthmovers commenced on the project where over 90 thousand cubic meters of soil was excavated and reworked to form the racing track and spectator mounds.
Concrete retaining walls were pre fabricated off site, 166 panels approximately 450 tons of concrete, transported in and erected as a Concrete Perimeter Fence 1.4mts in height. Attached to this, a Safety NASCAR Fence 6.5mts in height and Secondary Fencing for Crowd Control.
From there the track lights and poles were installed, 78 lights producing 300 lux (Musco Lighting-this lighting is possibly the best in Australian Speedway and this complex has the best lighting available and equal to any in Australia.)
The impressive main entrance building is unique and blends in perfect with the surrounding environment, along with all other buildings on site.
