MVB ON THE VERGE OF RESULTS

MVB Racing

After three race meetings in a Maxim Chassis, Mike Van Bremen is on the verge of achieving some results and it may all come together this Saturday night (December 2) at Heartland Raceway, Moama for round five of World Series Sprintcars.

Last Saturday night (November 25) the MVB Racing team headed to the fast Premier Speedway-Sungold Stadium in Warrnambool for the third round of the SRA Super Sprint Series and after an unlucky beginning to the evening, Van Bremen bounced back to salvage some form and points.

Van Bremen was forced to not finish his opening qualifying heat race after an incident in turn four when he was hit innocently, but fortunately the Action Blast Cleaning / CSR Methanol V#6 Maxim had a strong second heat, showcasing ample speed to race from position four to finish in second place.

‘The Flying Dutchman' had to begin his main event challenge via the B-Main last chance event where he started ‘on the bubble' out of position four, with the top four transferring to the 25-lap A-Main feature event.

Getting the job done in the B-Main event was imperative for the MVB Racing team, as points for the 13-round SRA Super Sprint Series are significant even at this early stage of the season. Van Bremen did get the job done, finishing second for a starting position of 14 in the main event.

In the A-Main, utilising the big Maxwill engine Van Bremen motored through the field on a superbly quick Premier Speedway after earlier rain showers. The Lilydale flyer was the hard charger in the A-Main, making up eight positions to claim sixth behind some fast peddlers.

“Starting from position 14 was always going to be hard,” said Mike after the race. “There was a lot of wheel banging at the start, but once we got into the swing of things we passed some cars.

“We had a fast car for the final, its just the other fast guys were to far ahead and we couldn't catch them and I had to settle for sixth. They (the top five) were a good half a lap ahead, I couldn't see them,” explained Van Bremen.

Although the result was by no means great for the former WSS driver, Van Bremen believes that a podium result is nearby once they can have a smooth night concentrating on the Maxim Chassis and not fixing other problems.

“So far, in three meetings, we have had other things to concentrate on and fix. We have also raced on three complete different tracks (Avalon, Moama, Warrnambool) and the set up deal has been a lot different,” said Van Bremen.

“We currently sit third in the SRA Series, so hopefully by the time the next round comes around at Avalon on December 16 we can sort out a couple of things and make some inroads.”

This Saturday night presents a promising prospect for the MVB Racing team, where they will head to Moama's Heartland Raceway for World Series Sprintcars. Van Bremen is a former WSS full-time racer and he is looking forward to mixing it with the national stars once again.

“As a contracted driver in past seasons, there was pressure every time to do well. Now that we are back doing our own thing in Victoria, there is less pressure and that could work in our favour for WSS at Moama,” enthused Mike.

Van Bremen has also raced at Heartland Raceway recently, which he can use in his favour, as he explains.

“The track was great recently, so if it is like that again and racy, there is no reason why we can't have a red hot crack and do well,” Van Bremen added.
