The Moama Mauler (Lucas Roberts) ventured down to the Apple Isle for the Grand Prix at Latrobe Speedway on the 1st and 2nd February 2008,
The team (Andrew Reid and Gary Corto) worked extremely hard to get the car ready in time for the richest Super Sedan event in the country and Lucas didn't let them down as from some unfavorable grid draws and in another car for the first time.
He finished 6th, 4th, and second from his three heats and finished the first night in the top ten and was poised to improve his position on the following night with a couple of reasonable draws for the next two heats and the Roberts team was very enthusiastic of Lucas improving his position for the feature but that wasn't to be as Mother nature took over and sent the rain tumbling down on the Saturday and the final event was eventually abandoned and unfortunately there was no final result of the Grand Prix for the second time in 30 odd years which was disappointing for all concerned but unavoidable because of weather conditions, but there's always next year.
Lucas and the team will now concentrate on the Victorian Title to be conducted on Saturday February 9th at the Rosedale Speedway and the team is confident they will be very competitive but as they know the local Mick Nicola will be very hard to hold out on his home track, and there are also a lot of other fierce competitors that will also be attending the meet and I would go as far as to say this would be probably the best gathering of Super Sedan teams to assemble for a Victorian Title ever and whoever the eventual winner is, he will have definitely earned it.
